Waterfront Remodel
A remodel of an 1890 waterfront home located 45 minutes north of Portland. We completely remodeled the interior to give it a modern, open feel, while preserving the original look of the exterior. We also added onto the living room and kitchen. Instead of trying to blend in the new additions with the old house, we set them apart by adding new modern boxes with natural stone and spaced board siding. These new spaces take advantage of the coastal views and natural daylight. The house now opens to the back yard and flows out to the patio and down to the beach. We retrofitted the original part of the house with high-density insulation and replaced the old windows with high-efficiency wood/metal clad. The house is now heated and air conditioned with a ground-source heat pump.
